Who We Are
We’re a team of lawyers, public policy experts, and researchers who’ve worked on everything from government policy to multinational tax audits. We’ve got the credentials (yes, the alphabet soup after our names), but we also know how to crack a smile between clauses.
We’re obsessed with clarity, allergic to jargon, and firmly believe that good advice doesn’t need to be dull.
Why Work With Us?
We listen hard before we recommend anything.
We’re fast, thorough, and no, we don’t pad hours.
We take your work seriously—but not ourselves.
Our Team Of Experts
Catherine Mutava
Catherine Mutava has been knee-deep in tax for close to two decades—and somehow still thinks it’s fun. With an LL.M. in International Taxation from New York University and an LL.B. from the University of Nairobi, she brings both brains and boldness to the table.
At Lexlink, Catherine is the go-to person for clients who need clarity in the thickets of domestic and international tax. Her advisory and research work spans everything from cross-border tax structures and illicit financial flows to gender and tax policy. If there’s a tricky tax puzzle, she’s the one you want working it out.
Beyond advisory, Catherine has authored tax analyses for the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation and guided heavyweight institutions—including the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Oxfam, ATAF, and the Thomson Reuters Foundation—through the twists and turns of tax policy and reform.
She even had a stint in public service, serving as a Member and Panel Chair of the Tax Appeals Tribunal, where she chaired panels, crafted rulings, and left her mark on Kenya’s tax jurisprudence.
And while research and advisory work keep her busy, Catherine has a soft spot for teaching (because someone has to train the next generation). She enjoys bringing tax to life in the classroom—and occasionally convincing her students that tax law can be fascinating—yes, really.
Linda Muthoni
Linda Muthoni has spent over 15 years navigating the worlds of tax, finance, and public policy—and somehow still lights up when faced with a spreadsheet. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy Management from Strathmore University, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi, and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya.
Her career spans tax consulting at Ernst & Young, an in-house role as Tax Manager at Standard Chartered Bank, and now leadership at Lexlink, where she drives tax and public policy research and advocacy. Her focus: dismantling structural barriers to economic inclusion and making policy work for people, not just papers.
Linda has a rare gift for making complex tax and policy issues understandable—and even usable—for diverse audiences. She brings discipline, depth, and clarity to technical work, with a knack for detail that comes from her unusual ability to remember numbers after seeing them just once.
When she’s not deep in tax laws or public policy, you’ll find her laughing with family and friends, or happily reading philosophy “just for fun.” (Yes, really.) She loves facts, thrives on analysis, and has a special passion for public policy—the space where numbers meet people, and ideas can spark change.
